Katie Price's house was reportedly hit by a fire last week

The 40-year-old former glamour model's mansion in Sussex, South England, was left damaged when her five-year-old son Jett's bedroom went up in flames, but thankfully no one was hurt and the 'Loose Women' star's stepfather Paul was able to extinguish the blaze

A source told The Sun Online: "Katie and the family were terrified the house was going to burn down.

"The fire started in Jett's bedroom, which is on the first floor, and quickly spread throughout the room.

"Fortunately, Katie's stepdad Paul was able to contain the blaze before it got out of control and they didn't have to call the fire brigade.

"She's trying to sell the house at the moment so it's really bad news for Katie. It's going to cost her a fortune to repair.

"The hallway and the bedroom have been blackened by smoke and it's a big clean-up operation.

"Nobody knows how it started but if Paul hadn't been visiting at the time with Katie's mum Amy, the whole house could have burnt to the ground."

The fire is the latest blow to Katie, who split from husband Kieran Hayler - the father of Jett and his four-year-old sister Bunny - earlier this year, as she's also facing bankruptcy and her mother is suffering from a terminal lung condition.

And two of Katie's children, Junior, 13, and 11-year-old Princess, are believed to be living with their father, her first husband Peter Andre, during the turbulent time in her life.

Though the 'Mysterious Girl' hitmaker hasn't confirmed that he's taken the kids full time, he has admitted he is doing his best to "protect" them from "negativity".

Asked about Junior and Princess living with him and wife Emily - the mother of his younger children Amelia, four, and 22-month-old Theo - he said: "We've had an amazing summer but I'm afraid I can't really talk about it...

"I'm dealing with everything that's going on at the moment and my kids are my priority, but I think it's very important to deal with these things privately and I'm doing so.

"Making sure my kids are protected and away from any negativity is my main priority.

"I just want them to focus on school and weekends and having fun."

Katie also has an older son, Harvey, 16, from a relationship with Dwight Yorke.
