Ben Affleck’s ex-girlfriend Lindsay Shookus “wants the best” for the star following his recent admission into rehab

The 46-year-old actor entered rehab for alcohol addiction last month shortly after ending his year-long romance with the ‘Saturday Night Live’ producer, and sources have now said Lindsay “will always care” about her former flame’s health, despite them no longer being in a relationship

An insider said: “Lindsay will always care about Ben’s health and want the best for him, but right now she’s focusing on herself, her work and her daughter. Lindsay has an awesome support system between her friends and family, and she’s been so grateful for all of the love in her life. The ‘SNL’ cast has been extremely supportive throughout all of this.”

In the wake of their split, 38-year-old Lindsay is said to be focusing more on her career, and hopes Ben - who has Violet, 12, Seraphina, nine, and Samuel, six, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner - will “take care of himself” going forward.

The source added to People magazine: “[Lindsay is] focusing on the ‘SNL’ season ahead and focusing on putting her family, work and friends first, after having focused on Ben for so long. She will always care about him, but wants him to take care of himself.”

Meanwhile, it was recently claimed and Lindsay and the ‘Justice League’ star had a “really good” relationship during their year together, but things got complicated when “distance” was involved.

A source said: "When it was good it was really really good. When they were in the same time zone and not focused on other things it was good. It became incredibly complicated with their families, with their jobs. He really liked her. He loved that she was smart, funny, opinionated. When they were together it brought him a bit outside of his comfort zone. She brought a bit of fresh air into his life that he needed."
