Evan Ross says his late father is responsible for his fearless attitude

The 30-year-old star's father Arne Naess died in a climbing accident when Evan was just 15, but that hasn't stopped Evan - who is married to pop singer Ashlee Simpson - from embarking on a climbing trip of his own

In a clip from their reality show 'ASHLEE+EVAN', Evan's wife Ashlee Simpson tells their three-year-old daughter Jagger: "You know where daddy's gonna go? Daddy's gonna go climb a mountain."

Jagger subsequently protests her dad's climbing trip, but the actor explained why the challenge means so much to him.

He shared: "I feel like one of the biggest things I got from my father growing up was, 'You can face certain fears' and no matter what, I can push through."

Arne died after an accident in the town of Franschhoek, just outside Cape Town in South Africa in 2004.

The businessman - who had Evan with music icon Diana Ross - was passionate about mountaineering and once admitted that if he didn't like taking risks, he would "rather have played tennis or golf".

Meanwhile, Evan and Ashlee - who also has a nine-year-old son called Bronx from her marriage to Pete Wentz - released their debut single 'I Do' earlier this month.

The couple - who tied the knot in 2014 - made their debut as a musical pair on Ryan Seacrest's iHeartRadio show, and they said the single underlined their commitment to each other.

The loved-up duo said: "Music was always one of the things that connected us from the beginning.

"We liked our voices together, and as time went on, we thought it was something that we wanted to share. 'I Do' is our commitment to our music and each other."
