The 42-year-old has completed his 80th US PGA tour win by two shots at the Tour Championship.
It is 1876 days since Woods' last victory, and he has suffered multiple back surgeries since.
He says the prospect of returning to his pomp was "a tall order" at the start of the year, but he found a swing and put pieces together that allowed him to do it again.
Justin Rose has been crowned the Fed Ex Cup champion, earning $10 million US dollars as the most consistent tour player.
Woods was second.
