Auckland Transport wants to lower it it to 30 kilometres an hour inside the central city motorways.
Heart of the City chief executive Viv Beck says there's already a 30 kilometre an hour limit in Queen Street, parts of Wynyard Quarter and the Viaduct already.
She says it won't make a massive difference.
Beck says it's changing the city for the future, where there are already a lot of people living, walking and cycling.
