Elizabeth Hurley has "given up coffee" in a bid to be more healthy

The 53-year-old star has stopped worrying about how she looks but has made changes to her lifestyle because she wants to be fitter and stronger

She told 'Extra': "When you're younger, it's all about beauty. As you get older, it's all about your health. I've been trying to exercise more and eat healthier. I've even given up coffee."

The model-and-actress has dished out her beauty secrets in the past, and last year she insisted a "positive" mindset was an important part of looking and feeling young.

She advised: "You have to try to stay positive. We all get terrible knocks in life, all of us.

"Some people have terrible things they have to deal with. You see some people and they just manage to keep their attitude positive. They rise above stuff. Some people get angry.

"Sometimes I think to glow, you have to let go of a lot of stuff and move on. Be as nice as you can to everyone."

Meanwhile, she recently opened up on her sense of fashion, and admitted she likes lots of the garments worn by her 16-year-old son Damian that she recycles them for herself once he grows out of them.

She said: "I tend to wear Damian's cast-offs. His 14-15-year-old trackie bottoms fit me perfectly."

Elizabeth and Damian - whose father is American businessman Steve Bing - share a very close bond as she has raised him for many years as a single parent but she insists she is just lucky to have a child whose personality is similar to her own.

She said: "I rather think I've simply been blessed with a child whose personality gels with mine. Friends who have several children always admit, although they love them all equally, inevitably there's one whose personality mirrors their own and they 'get' each other better. It's definitely nature not nurture."
