Yvonne Strahovski has given birth to her first child

The 'Handmaid's Tale' actress and her husband Tim Loden announced on Tuesday (16.10.18) that they had welcomed their "little dream boat" baby boy into the world

The couple - who got married last year - are yet to reveal details of the birth or the name of their son and have currently nicknamed him "Peanut".

Alongside an adorable black and white photo of Yvonne cradling her little bundle of joy, she wrote on Instagram: "My heart has melted into a billion pieces a thousand times already.

"We have been blessed with the greatest joy of our lives, our baby boy. Welcome to the world Peanut, your parents love you beyond measure and you are already my little dream boat.

"My heart has been stolen! (sic)"

The 36-year-old Australian actress took to the social media app in May to announce the couple were expecting a child.

She wrote: "I am very excited to finally be able to share my special news - I'm going to be a Mama! So very exciting to watch and feel this little Peanut growing every day! (sic)"

Yvonne accidentally announced the sex of her baby during an interview at the 2018 Emmy Awards.

She said: "I'm just gonna hold him in there hope for the best.

"I just let it slip earlier didn't I? Breaking news!"

Yvonne's character in 'The Handmaid's Tale', Serena Joy, is devastaingly unable to conceive a child, and the 'Dexter' star found it "very tricky" to keep her pregnancy news a secret and hide her burgeoning bump during filming, so in the end she had no choice but to tell her colleagues.

She said: "It was quite interesting hiding the pregnancy actually, as my first trimester was [from] episode nine through to the end of 'The Handmaid's Tale'.

"That's why it got tricky. In the end I was over hiding it so I said, 'you know what, I'm pregnant.'

"People thought I had the flu. They were scared to come near me."
