    Genesis Energy is buying wholesale coal and gas to supplement fuel supplies

    Genesis Energy is buying wholesale coal and gas to supplement fuel supplies, while it waits for the first deliveries of imported coal in early December


    The company is running its two dual-fuel Rankine units at Huntly fully on coal to help maintain national electricity supplies.

    Chief executive Marc England says reduced gas supplies, and low hydro lake levels are putting pressure on the energy sector.

    Higher wholesale electricity prices could translate into higher prices for consumers.
