Six fire crews responded to a fire blazing through two-houses attached together on Halswell's Alvaston Drive yesterday afternoon.
A fire spokesperson says the fire was under control by 5.20pm, but partially destroyed one of the houses.
Strong winds carried the smoke across the suburb, with neighbours and passers by gathering to watch.
A neighbour, Diana, says it was a blessing no one was hurt.
