The Football Ferns will look closer at a possible return of former captain Abby Erceg - after the upcoming Oceania Nations Cup

Erceg retired from international football earlier this year after disagreeing with the tactics and culture introduced by former coach Andreas Heraf.

New coach Tom Sermanni says he had a cup of tea with Erceg today, but his immediate focus is on qualifying for next year's world cup.

He says when the tournament is over they can look at the next stage.

In a statement Erceg has confirmed 'serious discussions' will be had when the Football Ferns return from New Caledonia.
