The Kiwi sits fourth on the timesheets after eight stages, 12.5 seconds behind leader Mads Ostberg .
Day one was marred by a tractor somehow getting onto the circuit, while Paddon's Hyundai teammate Thierry Neuville has suffered a blow to his championship hopes after hitting a chicane and then losing a tyre.
Day two racing has just begun.
