Changes to drinking water standards are being backed by specialists

It comes after Health Minister David Clark says the Havelock North drinking water contamination inquiry, after 5000 people got sick, showed there's a need for changes.
He says water suppliers will now need to monitor coliform bacteria in water and change how e. coli is tested.
Water treatment specialist Ian Rabbitts says it'll definitely improve water quality.
He says the cabinet paper identifies the status quo is not working and something has to be done.
