An elderly Christchurch couple feel trapped in their house after a violent home invasion

83-year-old John McCammon and his 81-year old wife Colleen have been living in fear since two women barged into their home of 30 years in August, pinning John to the ground and threatening to stab him.

The court heard the couple don't have the means to move away as they'd like - but the house now holds violent and disturbing memories.

Their son - Chris McCammon - says his parents don't feel safe anymore.

He says his father had feared for his life.

39-year-old Maera Todd was sentenced to seven years and four months imprisonment for the crime today in the Christchurch District Court.
