A new study indicates 90 per cent of medical faculties did not have a formal curriculum in the potentially life-saving benefits of radiation oncology therapy.
Evidence suggests radiation therapy half of all cancers would benefit from radiation therapy at some time.
Co-author associate professor Sandra Turner says junior doctors need to be prepared to fully inform cancer patients of the options out there.
She says a lot of medical school curricula is built up over time and there's a lot of tradition associated with that so that' a concern for long term patient care.
