The New Zealand Nurses Organisation is calling for urgent changes in safety
3 December 2018
A 42-year-old man's appeared in the Christchurch District Court - after stabbing a nurse in the leg at Hillmorton Hospital's mental health unit yesterday.
NZNO's John Miller says the Canterbury DHB needs to get serious in enforcing zero-tolerance to violence in the workplace - if regular nurses assaults are to stop.
He says it's unacceptable anyone feels scared going to work - in fear of being stabbed, burned, beaten, punched or strangled.
