Hamish Bond has made an instant impression in the velodrome

The double Olympic-rowing-champion-turned-cyclist has broken the New Zealand record for the four thousand metres men's individual pursuit.

Bond scorched the Waikato-Bay of Plenty Track Champs with a time of four minutes and 15 point eight one six seconds.

The world record is four minutes and seven point two five one seconds.

Bond switched to road cycling after the Rio Olympics and is now investigating possibilities on the track.
