    Valentine Holmes' pursuit of an NFL career is on track

    The former NRL footballer has been named as one of seven elite athletes to compete for a spot in the NFL's international player pathway programme.

    Former South Sydney junior Jordan Mailata entered the programme a year ago and was drafted by the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.

    Holmes quit the Cronulla Sharks and a potential $5 million contract to pursue his dream.
