Boaties are responding positively to the "No Excuse" water safety campaign

Maritime New Zealand staff and local councils are checking boaties are wearing life jackets and travelling at safe speeds.
Recreational boat users could face fines of up to 300-dollars if they're caught out.
Maritime NZ officer, Matt Wood, says most people are on board. - keen to hear and increase their understanding around regulations and safety.
He says they've only had to issue a few infringements to a small core of boaties.
