A big January bounce back for the share markets, after a historically bad December

A big January bounce back for the share markets, after a historically bad December

US markets have regained more than 10 percent since Christmas Eve.

Andrew Kelleher from JMI Wealth says the NZX has picked up three percent since Christmas, but hadn't fallen nearly as much as the US.

Kelleher says December's usually volatile for the US markets but this was a particularly strong swing.

He says the 10 trading days from Christmas Eve was the best period since 2009 ... but they did follow one of the worst periods in the decade just a few weeks earlier.
