The 7th seeded Austrian has beaten Roger Federer 3-6,6-3, 7-5 to win the Indian Wells Masters.
Meanwhile Auckland's ASB Classic runner up Bianca Andreescu has completed a stunning three sets win over Angelique Kerber to win the women's title at Indian Wells.
The 18 year old is trying to avoid comparisons to world number one Naomi Osaka who won the title last year.
She says it's inspirational seeing her claim the trophy and winning two Grand Slams but she doesn't want to take anything for granted and just wants to savour her win.
