Fears cost cutting measures in disability care are going a step too far

Fears cost cutting measures in disability care are going a step too far

Documents reveal the cuts planned by Ministry of Health bosses after a 100-million-dollar overspend this year.

They include limited showers and meals for the disabled, long wait lists for specialist care and no help for autistic children.

The cuts were designed to save 10-million-dollars by June, and 20 million each year after.

But the suggestions were so appalling to disability advocates, the national rollout was eventually stopped.
