Tournament director Karl Budge is confident next year's ASB men's Classic won't be adversely affected by the new ATP World Team Cup

Tournament director Karl Budge is confident next year's ASB men's Classic won't be adversely affected by the new ATP World Team Cup

The ATP is launching the new multimillion dollar competition in Australia in the first week of next season, featuring more than 100 players in 24 nations teams.

Budge has returned from a series of meetings in the US where he sought changes around the contracting of players to open up more late entries for the Classic.

He says that's what the players are after too and they have had a lot of requests from players about keeping a spot open for them.

A decision on what concessions are granted to Auckland is likely by Wimbledon.
