Auckland Council's agreed to hand over another half a billion dollars for the City Rail Link

The project's cost has risen to 4.4 billion dollars - a billion more than first thought.

The council has ruled out selling downtown carparks to fund the cash injection, and instead will consider selling concessions to operate the parks.

The project is jointly funded by the Council and the Government.
