    Advanced technology is set to be used to tackle challenges in the horticultural industry


    The ideas will come from regional research institute PlantTech which is backed by an investment of 9.4 million dollars from the MBIE's Regional Research Institute fund and shareholders.

    PlantTech CEO Mark Begbie said the horticulture industry is still very reliant on manual labour.

    He said bringing in automated systems will help with things like picking kiwifruit.
