An opportunistic coaching experience has given a kiwi a possible foot in the door with one of the biggest teams in the NBA

An opportunistic coaching experience has given a kiwi a possible foot in the door with one of the biggest teams in the NBA

The Athletic reports Hawke's Bay Hawks coach Zico Coronel is a name of interest to be considered for an assistant coaching role with the Houston Rockets.

Coronel worked with the Rockets alongside head coach Mike D'Antoni earlier in the year.

Coronel says while players like PJ Tucker and Chris Paul were great to observe, James Harden was mind-blowing.

He says there's the NBA individuals and the skills they work on, then there's Hardens which are at another level.
