This year's Queen's Birthday road toll has doubled last year's

The official toll period finished at six this morning, with six deaths.
The first fatality happened when a driver fled police in Auckland on Friday night.
A motorcyclist was killed in Waitaki on Sunday, and another person in a crash in West Melton later that day.
One person died when a car crashed into a shop in Auckland's Papatoetoe yesterday, and a motorbike passenger was killed in a crash near Port Waikato.
And one person was killed in a truck crash near Mokau, in Waitomo, just before 4am today.
Last year there were three deaths on the roads.
