Corrections is carrying out a full investigation at Christchurch Men's Prison - after a fire in its engineering department

Fire and Emergency NZ was called out just before 10 this morning and found a gas bottle on fire.

A Corrections spokesperson says there were no serious injuries and those working in the workshop were checked by prison Health Services staff.

They say the engineering workshop has been cordoned off and WorkSafe has been notified.
