Catching the bus in Wellington can take twice as long as driving

A Greater Wellington Regional council report reveals just how slow some buses are travelling in the capital.
It says in only a few instances taking public transport was faster than driving in Wellington - but all of those examples were by train.
On certain parts of the bus network, like the Golden Mile, average speeds for services dropped below 10 kilometres an hour.
The international best practice target speed is 22 kilometres an hour.
The slow speeds mean the network is not time competitive with driving.
