Wellingtonians wanting to get out on the water this weekend are being urged to take extra care - as the remnants of a "fatberg" flows from the water system

Wellingtonians wanting to get out on the water this weekend are being urged to take extra care - as the remnants of a "fatberg" flows from the water system

The harbour is contaminated after a wastewater pipe blockage, of fat, tissues, and paper towels.

The fatberg has been cleared from the pipe, but other issues are still being fixed.

Wellington Water says people shouldn't swim in the harbour for at least two to three days.

And those kayaking should take extra care in washing their hands after leaving the harbour.
