The New Zealand Bowls team has made a strong start to the Asia Pacific Championships on the Gold Coast

Gary Lawson has made a winning return after a decade out of the national squad leading the men's pair to three opening day wins.

The men's triple and women's four also won three form three.

Two time defending Commonwealth Games champion Joe Edwards suffered the only blemish in the women's singles, losing 21-19 to India after earlier wins over Hong Kong and Samoa.
