    The Commissioner appointed to fix the troubled Waikato District Health Board hopes it can become an example to others


    Dr Karen Poutasi has been in the job six weeks.

    She's aware other DHBs around New Zealand also have problems...

    Like the Counties Manukau and Canterbury DHBs - which haven't had their financial plans signed off by Health Minister David Clark.

    Poutasi says she'd be happy to share her learnings with others as her team rebuilds a successful DHB.

    She says there's undoubtedly challenges to overcome - but she's confident the DHB can be turned around by 2022.
