Captain Kane Williamson was docked 20 per cent of his match fee for being an over slow during a dramatic finish.
If it happens again during the tournament he faces a one game ban.
Stead is blaming the incident more on circumstances than sluggishness in the field.
He says the moment got to everyone because the atmosphere was so good it was difficult to hear on the ground.
The remaining Black Caps were fined 10 per cent of their match fees.
