The kiwi driver was hopeful of being picked as Hyundai's third driver for their upcoming event in Finland, before Irishman Craig Breen was eventually given the nod.
Paddon was dropped by Hyundai at the end of last season, after five years with the team.
In a social media post Paddon has denied previous reports he'd turned down a one-race offer from Hyundai after being dumped and claims he's actively maintained communication in pursuit of another shot but received nothing.
Paddon will race in the European Rallycross championship in France this weekend.
