Customs has arrested 11 people so far this year - the same number as the last two years combined.
It includes people trying to traffic material online, as well as those being stopped.
Customs investigations manager Steve Waugh says a rise in resources explains the increase in arrests.
He says the team's grown over the years and now sits at eight - the largest it's been.
He says they're now recognising the 'cyber border' is something they need to focus on.
