Fears access to medicinal cannabis prescriptions could end up being a postcode lottery

Fears access to medicinal cannabis prescriptions could end up being a postcode lottery

The Ministry of Health's published its proposal around legalising the drug.

Its preferred option is for a GP to prescribe it, with the support of a specialist.

Medicinal Cannabis Awareness New Zealand coordinator, Shane Le Brun says that could mean that the same group of specialists will be getting calls from GPs, up and down the country.

He says he lives in Blenheim, where there aren't even any pain specialists.
