The Government's giving three million dollars to Pact Group, to create New Zealand's first 100 per cent recycled-plastic food packaging.
Associate Environment Minister Eugenie Sage says using only totally recycled material that can be recycled again at the end of its life, helps create the shift to a more circular economy.
She says there needs to be a demand for recycled plastic products to drive that shift.
Sage says it's critical companies like Foodstuffs and Countdown use these materials in their packaging.
