The High Court at Rotorua has released the summary of facts surrounding Michael Douthett's killing of his wife of 20 years - Patricia - in Ngakuru.
The couple separated in early 2018 and Patricia moved out of the family home but continued helping run the farm.
Last Friday, Douthett pleaded guilty to the murder and to dangerous driving.
He was remanded in custody for sentencing in August.
