Economists are casting serious doubt on a government report on housing affordability

The Housing Affordability Measure shows renting affordability improved 4.2 percent last year, and said rental affordability was the best it had been in 16 years.

But economist Cameron Bagrie says the numbers are skewed and don't fairly represent areas such as Auckland.
