In just over five months - parts of New Zealand will switch to 5G

In just over five months - parts of New Zealand will switch to 5G

Vodafone's announced the enhanced network, in partnership with Nokia, will launch in Auckland Wellington, Christchurch and Queenstown in December.

It gives the telecommunications giant a jump on rivals Spark and 2degrees, who are mired in Huawei's political troubles.

CEO Jason Paris says it will be more than 10 times faster than typical 4G and won't cost existing customers any more.

But he says in the future, new customers will pay a premium for the network.
