Manchester City winger didn't play Liverpool match due to concerns over Algerian medicine
Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez didn't play this morning's Community Shield football match because of concerns over what medicine he was given by the Algerian team
5 August 2019
Mahrez captained his country to victory in the Africa Cup of Nations in the off-season.
But he sat out the season curtain-raiser against Liverpool because manager Pep Guardiola says the club doesn't have enough information over what he was prescribed on international duty.
Guardiola says Mahrez didn't know what he took either, so they left him out so as to not risk a failed doping test.
