Former All Black Duncan Robertson has revealed a hit and run driver saved his life
11 August 2019
The 72-year-old was struck by a car while pushing his wheelie rubbish bin to a collection point on a rural Queenstown road in July.
The driver of the car fled, leaving him unconscious, bleeding, with smashed ribs and a shoulder injury.
But it's had an unlikely positive outcome... the doctors fixing him up found a heart problem which required surgery.
He says if it wasn't picked up then, he could have been dead in six month to a year.
