A manhunt is underway in Levin after three offenders escaped policy custody this evening

The men were being placed into transport at the Levin District Court around 5.40, when another offender restrained an officer to help them escape.

They got into the car of a man unknown to them, and demanded he drive away... before later leaving on foot.

The public are asked not to approach any of the three men, and call 111 immediately if they are sighted.
