An Auckland daycare has been fined two-hundred thousand after a dead tree toppled on toddlers, putting four in hospital

One boy suffered multiple fractures, including two to his skull and a girl has needed ongoing surgery to her face since the accident in 2016.

Worksafe took out a prosecution against Discoveries Educare in Newmarket for failing to ensure health and safety of other persons, and ordered it to pay reparation to the families.

A mother has told the court her daughter had a serious cut to her face that needed surgery, and she now draws herself with a scar.

The landlord, Heng Tong Investment, has been ordered to pay 122 thousand dollars in fines, costs and emotional harm.
