Sections of State Highway 25 in the Coromandel remain closed after severe flooding and heavy rain overnight

NZTA Waikato System manager Karen Boyt says more heavy rain's expected this afternoon, and there may be more flooding at the 4pm high tide.

There've been two slips around the Kuaotunu township.

NZTA expects they'll be able to swing into full clean-up mode across the Highway by tomorrow morning.

Boyt says they can't know when the road will fully re-open until the front's gone through.
