The Prime Minister has announced New Zealand history will be taught to all children from 2022.
Jacinda Ardern says currently schools and kura decide how to cover the subject, but what is taught varies.
She says curriculum changes will ensure all learners are aware of key aspects of our history - and how they influenced and shaped the nation.
That includes the arrival of Maori, the Treaty of Waitangi, colonisation, our role in the Pacific, and multi-cultural identity.
