The High Court has granted the appeal of a man who blackmailed DOC

The High Court has granted the appeal of a man who blackmailed DOC

New Plymouth man Gregory Buchanan threatened staff in letters - complaining about the department's 1080 use.

He was sentenced to five years in prison earlier this year.

But that jail time has been halved on appeal - with the court finding the sentencing starting point was too high.

The revised sentence is two years and eight months in prison.
