A man is in Auckland City Hospital with swelling of the brain after contracting measles

The 45-year-old thought he'd been vaccinated against the disease.

His wife is urging people to double-check they're immunised.

Half of the 52-thousand measles vaccines which arrived on Monday are set to make their way around the country.

The other half will be kept to replenish stocks and focus on the outbreak in Auckland.
