A keen-eyed train driver has called in a house fire north of Kaikoura

Firefighters arrived at the scene in Half Moon Bay just after 7.30 this evening, to find a single-storey home well ablaze.

The fire is now under control, and being dampened down, while one person is being treated for smoke inhalation.

A Fire and Emergency spokesperson says the blaze was spotted by a train driver in the area, who radioed it in.
