Obesity rates in Auckland have tripled across one generation

Obesity rates in Auckland have tripled across one generation

The Healthy Auckland Together coalition has released its fourth annual Health Auckland Scorecard...a report on the population's obesity, physical activity and nutrition.

Public Health Medicine Specialist Dr Michael Hale says more than a third of Auckland adults are now obese compared with just ten percent in 1977.

He says by 2030, it's estimated two million Kiwis will be obese.
