Increasing rates of obesity are being blamed for the huge cost of gammy knees

In the next 20 years, the costs associated with knee osteoarthritis is expected to nearly double to 370-million-dollars.
Otago University's Dr Ross Wilson says the problem is an increasingly aging and obese population.
He says early intervention will need to be taken, to buck the trend.
Wilson says weight loss and exercise are key.
